Intuitive use of Census data represented at street level

MapMechanics have used GeoConcept analysis software and NAVTEQ street data to attach the correct proportion of the population in each OA to the relevant segment of the street network.

This data is particularly useful when used in conjunction with drive-time analysis. For example, combine this street level with Census data with GB speeds data and accurately calculate the number of adults within 15 minutes drive-time of your facility.

Why is NAVTEQ data from MapMechanics different?

NAVTEQ vector mapping is a comprehensive data set designed to be consistent across the world, with the same wide range of attributes, fully routable structure and helpful 5 level road classification. MapMechanics processes the data to ensure it is:

In your chosen format

Ready to use immediately in your chosen software (GeoConcept, MapInfo, ArcView etc).

Bridge heights resolved

MapMechanics examines each place at which road or rail networks cross and ensures height values correctly indicate whether the node is a junction or a bridge, preventing your routing software from directing you to jump off a motorway onto an A road which happens to cross beneath the motorway.

UK Style /classifications

Restructured in the UK to offer a FREE extra version styled in traditional UK manner. For example, roads classified as motorways, A roads, B roads etc instead of just level 1, level 2. Motorways coloured blue, Primary roads green etc.

Additional attributes

MapMechanics offer a vast choice of additional attributes, from real vehicle speeds by time of day to traffic volumes and population details.

Roundabout & junction names

MapMechanics add the motorway junction numbers and roundabout names to the data for improved clarity.

In your chosen projection

Choose the projection which best suits your project. Perhaps you need British National Grid to match your postcode sector boundaries, or maybe Latitude Longitude for a non-UK project. If you need to overlay the data on your Andes rasters, we recommend Lambert Conformal Conic projection. Contact MapMechanics for advise on which is best for your particular application.

Urban / rural classification

MapMechanics add an enhanced attribute specifying which roads are urban and which rural so you can apply appropriate speeds in your GIS.
