Data Catalogue: Address Management Products

THE PRODUCTS

Address Management products include data capture products which require the user to enter only part of the address. These systems then use fuzzy matching (within user defined limits) to populate your database with the full address, including the up to date postcode. If you already have a database which contains inconsistent records choose one of the batch products.

These products can also include additional information such as names from the electoral role so you can use the name as part of your search. For B2B organisations, choose the commercial names and SIC codes with millions of organisations from small shops to blue-chip corporations

WHY USE ADDRESS MANAGEMENT PRODUCTS?

The most common approach to adding your data to the map is through geocoding (by adding geography to your postcodes to place them on the map) so most users need postcode data to get grid coordinates.

However, corporate data bases have often been collected over many years and postcodes can be out of date, the format is often inconsistent and some records have incomplete addresses. Such anomalies result in records failing to geocode and so important information can be omitted from your analysis.

Address management products enable you to clean and correct addresses in your existing data and to capture correctly new addresses for future use. Use partial or full address input to return correct address, one at a time or in a batch. Web and desktop options are available.

There are two key originators of Address Management data and MapMechanics sales advisors can help you understand which is best for your specific application. To find out more contact us.
