Aerial photography of the UK

More Info

Flown from a nominal altitude of 5,500 ft and with a ground resolution of 25cm, The Millennium Map published by Getmapping plc, is the most complete and up-to-date aerial photographic data set of the UK. With virtually complete coverage of the whole of the UK at present, Getmapping’s true-colour imagery has been geographically corrected to the Ordnance Survey’s Land-Line mapping and therefore conforms to industry standards. Minimum order is £250. Typical area prices: M25 area £20,000, London city centre £1,800 and Oxford and the surrounding area £800. As part of Getmapping's update schedule, 30 cities within the UK were flown to 10cm resolution in 2002, including amongst others: London (within the M25); Manchester, Bristol, Brighton, Liverpool and many more. The entire Millennium Map is being completely reflown at 15cm from 2005 on for all England and Wales. Please contact MapMechanics for details.

Digital Surface Model (DSM)

More Info

This DSM is an elevation (height) model of the surface of the UK. As well as the topography of the area, the DSM includes elevations of structures (buildings/towers), and vegetation (trees/crops). The DSM consists of a grid database of height measurements separated by 5m in each orientation. The accuracy has been validated with a +/- 2.5m horizontal accuracy and a +/- 1m RMSE vertical accuracy. Data is originated by Intermap Technologies and the coverage of Central and South-East England has a higher vertical accuracy of +/- 50cm. Note the coverage area includes England, Scotland and Wales. Data available from £15 per sq. km. Minimum order is £250.

Digital Terrain Model (DTM)

More Info

The DTM is a terrain (bald earth) model of the topography of the UK. Like the DSM, the DTM consists of a grid database of height measurements separated by 5m in each orientation. The accuracy has been validated with a +/- 2.5m horizontal accuracy and a +/- 1m vertical accuracy. Data is originated by Intermap Technologies and the coverage of Central and South-East England has a higher vertical accuracy of +/- 50cm. Note the coverage area includes England, Scotland and Wales. Data available from £20 per sq. km. Minimum order is £250.

Orthorectified Radar Imagery (ORI)

More Info

The ORI is a black and white radar image collected concurrently with the elevation models. This ORI from Getmapping plc is provided in raster image format and has a ground resolution of 1.25m/pixel with a horizontal accuracy of +/- 2m. The ORI is suitable as a source of ground control for correcting aerial imagery or other forms of mapping. Data available from £10 per sq. km. Minimum order is £250.
