Postman - the best route to visit every door!

Need to make door drop deliveries?

MM Postman is ideal for scenarios where you need to create routes which visit every side of every street within a territory or specific region. For example, leaflet distribution or free newspaper delivery.

The MM Postman optimiser is designed to minimise the distance delivery staff travel without doubling back on themselves or crossing roads unnecessarily. The routing system can also print out a list of the streets for staff to visit, helping to reassure them they are taking the right route. It even prints a route list with address ranges for sections of streets in the sequence in which they should be visited.

Clear routing on maps with street lists

Postman creates a map with arrows indicating the route and direction of travel, together with a street listing with address ranges clarifying which properties to visit and the sequence in which they should be visited. The mapping can be styled to meet individual requirements and the size of the arrows varied to suit the scale of the display or density of the streets.
Example:
route street list
55 - 55 AISKEW GROVE
2 - 49 SCALBY GROVE
55 - 49 MOULTON GROVE
47 - 37 MOULTON GROVE
13 - 1 KNAYTON GROVE
2 - 18 SADBERGE GROVE
47 - 11 SADBERGE GROVE
2 - 16 KNAYTON GROVE
35 - 25 MOULTON GROVE

Settings: streets with address ranges, start points etc

Either select the whole area of interest on screen or divide the main distribution area into territories for each van, bike or person. Then use MM Postman to develop the most efficient route around each territory.

The configuration screen also enables the user to choose the road network to use (e.g. NAVTEQ streets with address ranges).

Sometimes it is helpful to specify the start point, e.g. when the distributor or a depot is based on a road within the route.
MM Postman uses GeoConcept GIS to power the routing functionality and display the results. The set up screen asks the user to specify where the results are to be stored and the style of those results is specified in GeoConcept.

Creating territories

With MM Postman you can create a single route for your whole area of interest or you may wish to have separate routes for each delivery person.

To create individual delivery areas you can:

The number of items is likely to be smaller for those walking than those in a van. Similarly, the number of items might be smaller for heavy items (such as newspapers) than for light items (such as store discount leaflets).
