Course objectives

This one day course details the steps necessary to get a map onto the web effectively. The course topics include how to use html pages to request images from the GeoConcept Internet Server to view within a web page. Also showing the different settings available to customise images and integrate them into a website.

The Java JUMP applet is also covered in the second part of the course. The focus is on creating a complete solution by configuring JUMP to enable for example different functionality for different users or creating the right interface and permissions for the right people.

Topics covered

  • Fast creation HTML pages via the ready to use Java client

  • Configuration via control panel

  • Setting map parameters

  • Use of saved positions, tabs, pan, zoom etc

  • Interacting with map - thematic mapping, attributes etc

  • Hotlinks, logos, extra text etc

Who should attend?

The course is relevant for anyone with a basic of knowledge of GeoConcept and the Internet right through to those who are highly proficient and wish to develop a more complex mapping solution. The number of students on each course is limited to 8, usually working in pairs, to ensure that each student has sufficient access to the course tutors for help and advice.
