The Role

Working in a small, professional consultancy team you will perform the following tasks:

  • Develop and maintain expertise in Mapmechanics Logistics solutions, including Truckstops™ and Optisite™
  • Carry out pre-sales workshops and proof of concept activities, including working with client data using the Mapmechanics off-the-shelf and bespoke solutions, collation and presentation of results, liaising with prospective clients
  • Analyse and manipulate data and undertake technical work on behalf of our customers
  • Project Manage projects such as implementations and consultancy project from start to finish
  • Carry out the implementation of logistics solutions, on-site and remotely
  • Devise innovative ways to configure solutions to meet customers’ objectives
  • Train customers and staff via face to face or on-line presentations, creating and maintaining effective training materials
  • Provide detailed, accurate and helpful on-line and telephone technical support to resolve customer support issues
  • Analyse customer requirements and specify the work necessary to meet these requirements
  • Contribute to the ongoing Logistics product development, including issue prioritisation, contributing product ideas, creation of video / written content
  • Test solutions to make sure that they meet client requirements
  • Estimate timeframes for completion of work and ensure that these timeframes are met
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers
  • Keep administration systems up to date
  • Travel to, and work at, client sites and MapMechanics’ premises.
  • Maintain effective communication between all internal departments and clients

The Candidate

Essential – if this is you then we may have a perfect role for you

  • Bachelors level education in relevant subject, eg. Logistics, GIS, Computer Science, Maths
  • You are at home with technology, computer software, databases, able to communicate technical things to non-technical people
  • You enjoy working with data, and are able to analyse, manipulate and report results using a variety of methods and tools
  • You are comfortable communicating with people at different levels in our client organisations, equally by phone, email, on line meeting or face to face
  • You are well organised and able to manage own workload
  • You are a fast learner, happy to investigate problems to find solutions and comfortable asking for help
  • You are comfortable working to deadlines
  • You always operate with high levels of integrity
  • You are happy to work in a small organisation with ambitions of significant growth
  • You must be able to commute to Brentford, West London, every day, but are able to travel to client sites when required

Beneficial – it will help if you have some of these, but they aren’t essential

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification
  • Pre-sales experience
  • Software implementation experience
  • Experience training customers to use software products
  • Experience providing technical support
  • Experience managing projects
  • Previous experience with Mapmechanics products including Truckstops (or our competitors’ products)
  • Experience of the logistics or supply chain sectors, in particular logistics planning
  • An interest in maps, technology, solving problems
  • Glowing references from your previous employment
  • Some experience of working with clients
